The Global Footwear Awards Collaborates With The Spanish Footwear Incubator INDIPROC To Recognize Footwear Design Ability.

A brief visit to the Global Footwear Awards website provides a view into the future of footwear, which is already being created by entrepreneurs in the industry who are free to pursue their most futuristic ideas, propelling the industry to new heights.

However, these visionaries frequently need more resources to bring their ideas to fruition. With this in mind, the Global Footwear Awards has partnered with Spanish footwear incubator INDIPROC.

María del Carmen Maestre, the company’s founder, explained to FashionUnited that it was founded to promote rising firms in the market.

This initiative seeks to empower and support independent designers and students by providing them with the materials and chances they need to improve their careers.

INDIPROC has a multidisciplinary team can cover a wide range of needs, from specialized training programs to market integration via collaborations in 3D design, marketing, financing, and footwear manufacture.

Once the incubated brands have launched their projects, INDIPROC provides continuous support, including representation on B2B and B2C sales platforms.

As part of this agreement, the Global Footwear Awards’ independent designer category winner will get a thorough mentorship plan worth 1,495 euros.

The curriculum will provide tailored advice and extensive assistance to help designers advance their profession. Finalists and the winner of the student category will also receive consulting sessions with the INDIPROC team, which will help them navigate the next essential steps in the footwear sector.

From Spanish Handmade Tradition To Global Expansion Under The Coach-Tapestry Umbrella.

Mari Carmen Maestre, a third-generation Spanish shoemaker, formed the footwear incubator INDIPROC in 2021 to revitalize a family legacy dating back to 1934 when her ancestors introduced the breakthrough vulcanized product ‘Petre’ and established a sales network throughout the Iberian peninsula.

Since then, the company has gone through numerous periods of worldwide expansion, most notably its presence in key markets such as the United States and Canada following its acquisition by Caressa and then by a Chinese corporation.

With a tradition of craftsmanship and quality, the second generation continued manufacturing for prominent labels such as Spiegel and Russell & Bromley before launching Laurel Shoes in 1995, specifically for designer Stuart Weitzman.

The third generation joined the company in 2003, continuing to work for the brand and integrating new brands after COACH-Tapestry acquired SW.

How Has INDIPROC’s Work Changed Since Its Inception?

We began our work by assisting emerging brands that required technical assistance to develop their collections.

After meeting more designers and recognizing the need in the field, we created a series of training courses, both online and in person, to help creatives and entrepreneurs begin their journey with the skills they need to engage with production teams.

Furthermore, we have increased our network of collaborators, allowing these new brands to have their teams of technicians, marketing, and finance…

How many footwear designers and companies have participated in INDIPROC programs since its inception?

Since we began our adventure in 2021, we have worked with over 80 designers, advising and counseling them based on the requirements of their projects.

In the last year, we have collaborated with approximately 12 companies on mentoring and industry integration, sample development, and collection production.

Furthermore, as a ‘host entrepreneur’ for the Erasmus exchange program for Young Entrepreneurs and collaborator with numerous schools, we have provided footwear training to aspiring entrepreneurs in the industry.

What Types Of Capital Or Funds Does INDIPROC Receive To Carry Out Its Initiatives?

To date, INDIPROC’s funding has come from internal resources or private money. Brands with a distinguishing product in terms of R&D, sustainability, and so on are offered the opportunity to manage public or private finance through INDIPROC.
